House Update - Fall 2009
Brothers,
We wanted to update everyone of the exciting progress on the house construction initiative. This fall, we will be teaming up with an Atlanta-based capital campaign company, The Laurus Group (www.thelaurusgroup.net),
to engage in a feasibility study that will evaluate the Gamma Tau Chapter’s readiness to move forward with the fundraising and construction of a new house at 841 Fowler Street. The Laurus Group is a well respected firm
that has worked exclusively with fraternal organizations, including several at Tech, and will help provide the
necessary professional services experience that will make this initiative a success.
The feasibility study will be conducted over a 6-month period and will leverage a representative sampling of
alumni. As the study begins, representatives from both The Laurus Group and the house committee may be
contacting you to further discuss this initiative. Their experience and impartiality will provide the right
atmosphere for the creative discussions that will ultimately guide the recommendations on how we proceed as
a Chapter. Keep in mind that this study is only the first step of this process, with many more to come.
As the study is progressing, we will be evaluating the financial
projections that a new house will require, ensuring that it will be
financially feasible. It has been overwhelming agreed to that as a
Chapter, we will only move into the design phase of this project if our
alumni are in support, the timing is right, and the house will be
financially sound now and in future by making this level of investment.
This initiative comes at a crucial time in our chapter’s history, with the
current house being more than 50 years old. The house has reached
and even exceeded a reasonable life span and it is unfortunately now
necessary to evaluate and plan for its replacement. The feasibility
study will ultimately measure our Chapter’s dedication to maintaining
a leadership position in the Greek system at Georgia Tech and can
prove to be a defining point in how we project and maintain our image
on campus for the next 50 years and beyond.
We are all very excited and energized by the prospect of a making the “new” 841 Fowler Street the best physical
house on campus. More information on our process and our accomplishments to date can be found on the
reverse side of this document. And, we are always seeking alumni who wish to help see this dream a reality. If you would like to be involved in the process, please contact on of the committee members below.
Fraternally,
